The RCF is to sponsor a radio activity day for Arkwright Scholars at the National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park.
One of the aims of the RCF is to promote radio communications in the UK.
Every year the Foundation sponsors two Arkwright Trust scholars.
However, we noted that the Arkwright Trust has hundreds of other scholars who are all interested in science, technology, engineering and maths and we considered how we might make our resources available to a wider audience.
This year the RCF has decided to offer a number of them the opportunity to learn more about radio technology at a one day event in March.
This event will take place at the National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park and will provide a number of radio activities.
These will include a look at putting an amateur radio station together, aerial tuning, Morse code, operating an amateur radio communications station and a tour of the National Radio Centre.
Participants will be provided with some pre-reading—a booklet of about 30 pages—and online support which will prepare them to sit the Amateur Radio Foundation Licence examination at the end of the activity day.
The RCF is funding the textbooks and examination fees and are grateful to the RSGB and their volunteers for making this exciting event possible.
