Alan Gray has developed his career in education.
Alan graduated with an honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Exeter and began teaching in various London schools.
He spent the early part of his career learning how to teach students of all abilities, and was an early pioneer in the use of technology in the classroom, including teaching one of the first cohorts in O level computer studies.
His career moved into Hertfordshire taking on senior leadership roles, and has now led two highly successful schools over the past 18 years.
His current headship is at Sandringham School in St. Albans; one of the top performing non-selective schools in England.
He combines this role with chairing other various groups and is a trustee of the World Class Schools Quality Mark charity.
In recent years he has introduced amateur radio to school students, working with the Verulam Amateur Radio Club to train a number through to their foundation licence.
The school holds the call sign M0SCY has is active with an HF station during lunchtimes.
Alan is active daily as G4DJX.
